I.O.G.K.F.

Welcome to the Okinawan Karate Do

Kenkyu-Kai Webpage!

The Okinawan Karate Do teaches Traditional Goju-Ryu Karate. We are an  I.O.G.K.F (International Okinawan Karate Do Federation) and we are located in Delaware.

Our mission is to spread the traditional teachings of Chojun Miyagi Sensei (who founded Goju-Ryu Karate) and to promulgate traditional karate and the humanistic growth it provides.

What does Kenkyu-Kai mean?

Kenkyu-Kai means literally research club. As an aspirant in traditional Karate the Karate-ka(karate student) embarks on a lifelong journey for self study not only physically but also mentally and at higher levels spiritually. Also we only accept a limited number of students at one time to make the research more in-depth and personalized. Our training facility provides a friendly atmosphere for excellent individualized instruction.  Our small class sizes guarantee one on one interaction, where each student's needs are met.  Students do not compete against each other, rather you will compete against yourself. The depth and intensity of the quality instruction you will receive promotes and encourages self discipline, courtesy, honor and respect towards others and other Martial Arts styles.   In addition, you will gain insight to a whole new culture, learn about Okinawa and Japan; it's people, their customs, and way of life.  You will receive a well rounded education, taught by caring and knowledgeable instructors

Please feel free to explore our web site and learn more about Goju-Ryu, and traditional karate in general.
